The number of children’s publishers and imprints MMS represents continues to grow; currently standing at more than twenty publishers in UK and export markets. Each publisher is selected for its excellent range of children’s books and the diverse range of selected publishers work extremely well together giving our sales teams titles to suit every customer.

In the UK, MMS has a strong experienced trade and special sales team meeting wholesalers, school and library suppliers, as well as independent bookshops on a regular basis. MMS also has a team of educational consultants going into schools up and down the country. In export markets, MMS works with great sales agents and distributors to ensure its publishers’ children’s books appear all around the world.

Amicus Ink

Appealing and accessible, the titles crafted by Amicus Ink, both fiction and non-fiction, encourage young readers to engage with their world. Featuring vibrant imagery and text, these titles present a diverse universe from a child’s-eye perspective. Look out for the first Amicus Ink new titles being published in March 2020!

Caboodle Books

Caboodle Books is a tiny independent publisher, working within its school event company Authors Abroad. Many authors working for Authors Abroad thought that they’d like to have more control over their books and so asked the CEO of Authors Abroad whether he’d consider publishing them, so Caboodle Books was born. In recent years, key titles of note have been Island written by award winning author Nicky Singer and illustrated by children’s laureate Chris Riddell plus Karl Nova’s Rhythm and Poetry which won the 2018 best poetry book of the year awarded by CLiPPA (Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award) which is the only award in the UK for published children’s poetry.

Cherrytree Books

Cherrytree Books has gone through many reincarnations but it continues to have an excellent reputation in schools and libraries with its benchmark being creativity and quality in every area. So many great titles go out of print and languish in forgotten archives but, with experience and knowledge, it has been possible to bring back many popular titles into print for today’s child. Publications of note have been Hana’s Suitcase written by Karen Levine – a best seller all over the world and licenced for UK and Europe by Cherrytree Books; The Jags and Mystery Mob series which are always popular with children.

Duckbill Books is one of India’s most exciting, multi award-winning, small and independent publishers. Its books are for children who are starting to read independently to young adult readers. That, the Duckbill list has set a very high benchmark for Indian children’s books has been acknowledged by reviewers, readers and industry-watchers. Its goal is to bring children fantastic stories and unusual books and in wanting to reach as many children as possible, the MMS team is delighted to be working with Duckbill to select children’s books championing diversity and equality for world markets. The first titles from Duckbill will be published outside India and available from MMS in July 2019.

Henu is a new publishing company set up by Henu Mehtani and she will be working with the MMS team to publish fabulous children’s books for world markets. Henu Studio has been dynamically active in areas of book publishing such as content, editorial, design and illustration for some time and it’s an exciting project to bring this publisher to a wider audience. Lantana Publishing is a young, independent publishing house giving new, aspiring and award-winning Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic authors and illustrators a platform to publish. In the UK, almost a third of school children identify as BAME and yet fewer than 5% of published children’s books feature BAME characters. Lantana is proud to show children of colour that they deserve to see themselves in the books they read and authors of colour that their stores matter. Lantana Publishing is certainly a trail blazer in this area and so many of their books are now award winners. Their philosophy is keep it small, do it right!

Salariya

The Salariya Book Company was founded in Brighton in 1989 by David Salariya, with the aim of building an independent children's publishing brand that would prize innovation, humour and quality above all else. So, 2019 is their thirtieth anniversary of producing fabulous books. They see books as an invaluable learning and development aid, especially in the first few years of life, so their books are not only entertaining and stimulating, but also highly engaging and interactive. They publish a comprehensive range of titles, from high-contrast board books for babies to early learning and picture books for pre-schoolers through to information, fiction and graphic novel titles for children aged 7+.
